Our client required an independent assessment on a proportion of work that they had outsourced to a third party supplier. The purpose of the assessment was to verify the quality of the work conducted.

This project assessment covered the generation of test plans, test specification writing and reviewing and the raising of appropriate documentation such as problem reports and the completion of review checklists.

started the process by reviewing the test plan, which identified all the requirements and the level at which they would be tested, i.e. module, integration etc. The test plan was reviewed against the requirements report and using knowledge of the testability of software at the various levels.
Following acceptance of the test plan the individual test specifications were reviewed against the requirements, change notes and quality procedures documentation. The tests were reviewed to ensure that they achieved full functional coverage, full test coverage and correctly commented and traceable.
Throughout the process problem reports raised by the third party were reviewed to ensure that they had covered all anomalies in the client's documentation set.
produced a comprehensive engineering report detailing the quality of all the activities undertaken by the third party. This enabled our client to address any issues identified in the report.
